Analyzing your Bright Idea
When you are on the prowl for your bright idea, make sure you do your due diligence and research, research, research before you fall in love with it. I can’t stress this enough. Why are you going to try and re-invent the wheel? It is better to know your target market, than to create a product, and then say “Who can I get to buy this?” You may find it easier to know the target market first, and then decide on the idea/product. Whatever your idea may be, it must answer these simple questions:
1. Does my target market have money? How much money should they make to be included?
2. Is my target market easily reachable? How am I going to reach them?
3. Are they online? If they aren’t online you can’t sell them an online digitally delivered product.
Once you have decided on the target market, and some bright ideas to go along with it, you have to stroll over to the search engines to do a little research. Whatever your term is, enter it into Google search. The more results you get back the better, because it lets you know that you’re on to a popular topic that has lots of information out there for you to make a good decision on whether the topic should be a good idea or not. You can also use “your market + discussion board/forum” to visit forums that discuss your possible idea so you can get more feedback, and a feel of what people are looking for.
Don’t forget to check out what your competition is doing. Don’t be afraid of the competition. You should be glad that you are not having to re-invent the wheel and trying to create something totally from scratch. Just make sure not to blatantly copy someone else’s work. You should also make sure that your first project is something that is quick and easy that will allow you to build yourself up to bigger and more profitable projects.
